Dear fellow EAers,
First, I am GRATEFUL for the service of our Board. I know that it can be tedious and thankless work.
BUT, though our Austin group uses the term Higher Power frequently, particularly until we know where newbies are coming from spiritually, we were quite distressed at the Board's overstepping Tradition 2. So dramatically changing the Yellow pamphlet (the CORE of our program!) and other literature is not something that should be done without a vote of the general membership.
I'm a 34 yr. member of The Program, the last 8 or 9 in EA. And I've never before witnessed such hubris on the part of leadership. I, personally, have considered leaving a Fellowship which is governed in such a dictatorial manner. Thank you to Karen for becoming involved here. And please, Board, reconsider your actions. Otherwise our group has decided to photocopy an "old" yellow pamphlet and continue to use it as the guide for our meetings.
To a large extent thanks to EA, many members lead very full lives and don't read much communication from EA International. But hopefully we've learned a Step 12 lesson from all this: It's important for each member to be more aware of what's going on at the International level lest the actions of a few - no doubt very dear - souls run away from the will of the vast majority!!
