As you may know ...
The minutes from last nights board meeting are posted at the EA Web site ... I didn't find them clear on one or two points but maybe that's just me.
I did check on the Steps and Traditions that are posted (as of this evening) at the website, and they have indeed reverted to the original "God" language.
HOORAY!

I think it is clear as day. From the minutes:
"Recommendation: To reverse the Board decision to accept the 2018 Bylaws and operate according to the 2017 Bylaws. The Board stands by some of the changes that were made in 2018 so will re-introduce some of the changes as 2019 Bylaws by a full membership ratification process. Motion made by John, seconded by Scott. Vote was unanimous."
This is a superb resolution and everything we could have hoped for! Kudos to the Board for doing the right thing and correcting their past error. I look forward to the proposed changes later this year, and the opportunity for the full membership to participate in the democratic process as envisioned by the founders of AA and EA.
Thanks to Karen M, synch, and all who worked hard to achieve this highly positive outcome!

From the minutes of the June 2019 meeting: Note that the 2017 Bylaws forbid changes to the Steps and Traditions. See 2017 Bylaws here: emotionsanonymous.boards.net/thread/28/2017-bylaws-emotions-anonymousSo they had to revert, in addition to the bylaws going back to 2017. As dan12 has posted in the OP, the "God/HP" language has been changed back to its original form, as existed in 2017, in the only place it was actually changed, which was on the Emotions Anonymous website, itself.

Note that the 2017 Bylaws forbid changes to the Steps and Traditions. That is not, in fact, the point. This was a PROCEDURAL issue. The Bylaws have been amended numerous times over the years. The issue here is there was a democratic process that delineated exactly HOW the Bylaws may be changed, that includes ratification by the membership, and that process was unduly revoked by the Board. With last night's vote, the Board committed unanimously to reinstate that process. THAT is why this is a victory. Had nothing happened other than a rollback of the Steps/Traditions language changes, that would have been a Pyrrhic victory of epic proportions. It would have allowed the Board to make any capricious future decisions it wished to. The program could be changed from Emotions Anonymous to Hoarders Anonymous if the Board decided that was a more expedient business model. [example for illustration purposes only]

THANKS to Synch and Company for pursuing this on behalf of us all. I truly believe that the Board meant well. It has to be hard to lead an organization full of folks like me who, despite what the Yellow Pamphlet says about "making time", just CAN'T have time for EVERYthing we want to do. So, then what do I cut back in order to keep up with how EA is run? Don't spend as much time with sponsees? Don't go to meetings? Less time with family? Less time doing work?
I think my own time constraints are common among EA members. Again, I'm soooo grateful to the Board and to those who kept the pressure on. I am CONVINCED that, even though there wasn't an apparent tsunami of members protesting, they DO care about these issues. Here in Austin the overwhelming majority was firmly against the changed wording. But they were 100% INCENSED over the strong-arming of the by-laws, considering that to have been an ace of infidelity to us all.
THANK you, Board, for doing the right thing!!
EA hugs to all, JeuneF
